The Chaim Schwartz Foundation is pleased to request proposals for activities that preserve and enrich Yiddish language, culture, theater and art. Proposals may be project-specific or for general support. We are particularly interested in projects that continue Yiddishkeit's rich social justice heritage. The foundation grants only to non-profit organizations ("Qualified Charitable Recipients" in the language of the IRS). It cannot fund scholarships or make other grants to individuals. The grant amounts are relatively small — $500 to $5,000 — and the application procedure commensurate.

Grants are made once per year, in May or June. To apply for a grant, send a brief (two to three paragraph) letter of interest to grants@chaimschwartz.org by April 1. The letter should describe the project you would like funded and why you think it is important. If the proposal is of interest, you will then be asked to send a more complete application, including your organization’s description, budget and legal documentation; references; and a detailed project description.
